Carrier Connex Inc. adds Dedicated Server Hosting Services
January 12, 2010

Carrier Connex Inc., a provider of a technologically advanced Data Center in Canada, announced today that it has added custom Dedicated Server Hosting Services utilizing Dell Solutions for single server or a cluster as well as affordable Enterprise Class Hosting and both managed and unmanaged service to its list of services. These services were added due to the many requests from an ever expanding cliental. Our Virtualization solution is based on Intel’s Xeon processors, increasing manageability, security, and flexibility in IT environments, virtualization technologies like hardware-assisted Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT)¹ combined with software-based virtualization solutions provide maximum system utilization by consolidating multiple environments into a single server or PC. By abstracting the software away from the underlying hardware, a world of new usage models opens up that reduce costs, increase management efficiency, strengthen security, while making your computing infrastructure more resilient in the event of a disaster. The Intel® Xeon® processor 5500 series automatically and intelligently adjusts server performance according to your application needs for an up to 9x performance gain over single-core servers1 at 18 percent less operating power. This enables you to achieve a 9:1 server consolidation ratio, reducing operating costs by up to 90 percent resulting in an estimated 8-month return on a new server investment.

Carrier Connex Inc. a Green Data Facility
upgrades its Internet Network

December 21, 2009

Carrier Connex Inc. is pleased to announce it has completed the upgrade of its bandwidth network, increasing its capacity to 16 Gbps as well as the addition of two new network providers to support the company’s growing bandwidth requirements. The recently deployed additional connections will provide overflow capacity and network redundancy for our clients with a near 100% uptime guarantee.

Multiple, redundant network connectivity is important to Carrier Connex Inc. and its customers because of the performance and failover benefits. When connectivity is obtained from multiple providers, service uptime can be greatly enhanced because traffic can be routed around local congestion or outages.

Carrier Connex Inc. is located in Toronto’s premier communications building, the International Telecom Carrier Hotel and Data Centre, located at 151 Front Street West which is home to more than 150 telecommunications companies and is one of North America's most connected buildings with 9 unique fibre-optic networks, 25 diverse entrances, and more than 7,000 strands of fibre. Toronto is also the major communications hub for the Canadian market and serves as one of the main hubs for voice and Internet traffic

Carrier Connex Inc., 151 Front St, collocation facility is also important for its environmentally friendly cooling infrastructure. Growth in demand for server space has created increasing demands for power to run blade servers and cool data centers. Carrier Connex Inc. facility uses the, energy-saving Deep Lake Water Cooling system to cool the data center. Deep Lake Water Cooling (DLWC) is the world's largest lake-source cooling system. And it's the ultimate in renewable, clean, green energy.

Three intake pipes draw water (4 degrees Celsius) from 5 kilometers off the shore of Lake Ontario at a depth of 83 meters below the surface. Naturally cold water makes its way to the City’s Pumping Station. There, heat exchangers facilitate the energy transfer between the icy cold lake water and the closed chilled water supply loop. This cold lake water is pumped to the building and used to cool Carrier Connex Inc’s data centre. This process reduces electricity use by up to 90% compared with conventional air-conditioning, eliminates tones of carbon dioxide annually and cuts polluting CFC refrigerants. Only the coldness of the lake water is harnessed, not the actual water, so DLWC provides a truly unique, green alternative to conventional air conditioning.

Carrier Connect has also gone one green step further by utilizes the Fenwal Novec 1230 engineered fire suppression system, designed for use with 3M Novec 1230 fire protection fluid and is the newest agent in Halon alternatives. It’s environmentally friendly profile is non ozone-depleting has a five-day atmospheric lifetime and a global warming potential of only 1.

Carrier Connex Inc. goal is to deliver a technologically advanced facility utilizing green alternatives whenever possible.
